The salmon is the oldest animal, according to the ancient lore transcribed in the 11th Century Welsh manuscript of Culhwch and Olwen. In fact, the oldest salmon fossils we have found date past 4 million years ago, long before the birth of humankind. Considered in the context of the future and continuing climate change, the mythology of our ancestors tells us how critical is our present moment.
