Duncan Gibbs is a mixed media artist based in Seattle, Washington. His figurative and abstract painted constructions address climate change and social issues through a symbolist, mythographic lens.
Born in 1959, Duncan grew up in the small, rural town of Urbana, Ohio, surrounded by ploughed fields, wooded prairies, meandering rivers and railroads. He earned a B.A. in Communications & Media Arts from Antioch University in Yellow Springs, OH, and an M.A. in Educational Technology from San Francisco State University, making a career in website UX design.
Duncan has studied with teaching artists in Ohio, San Francisco, and Seattle, and has exhibited in several group shows. In addition to his studio practice, he collaborates with community on projects that promote equity by centering BIPOC and LGBTQI+ artists.
